Syria to the 6 is a group of Torontonians who helped bring a Syrian refugee family to the city of Toronto through the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program.

After being devastated by news footage and feeling helpless watching the Syrian refugee crisis, I felt that I couldn't remain apathetic any longer. I wanted to do something - anything - to help these people in any way that I could. I did a bit of research and found that through the federal government's Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program, a group of five Canadians can come together to bring a family to Canada. You just need to raise the money, and commit to helping the family settle in their first year. I asked around for some help, and as a result, Syria to the 6 was born. While our name is fun and light, our commitment to this issue is anything but. We hope to exceed our $50,000 goal so that we can support as many families as we can to come to Canada and enjoy the peace we call home.
